Never Install a Cheap Mass
Produced Engine
Don't put a cheap mass produced engine or cylinder head in
your vehicle!
At Scroggins Machine, Inc. we are so proud of our quality.
If a customer is interested in how we build motors then he
or she is invited to visit our shop and I will demonstrate
and explain how our process is superior to anybody in Houston.
(To help ensure accuracy and long engine life) we take more
measurements of our components before installing them than
than any of our competition.
We have also spent the money to keep our technical information
up to date by investing in Mitchell
and Prosis Automotive Programs. These programs allow us
to follow on up the newest procedures for engine and cylinder
head rebuilding, and also gives us the latest bulletins.
In addition, most mass production engine builders use "crack
repaired" cylinder heads and blocks. Nobody recommends
crack repaired parts, but they use them. We don't.
Bad cores should be replaced with uncracked cores. At SCROGGINS
Machine, Inc. we do not use crack repaired heads and blocks.
So don't put a cheap mass produced engine in your car.
We Are Different
Not just any machine shop can provide the high quality services
that we are uniquely qualified to provide. When a modern,
sophisticated overhead cam cylinder head overheats and warps,
it warps two surfaces, the cam side and the block-sealing
side. If a head warps to an excessive degree, the cam side
must be straightened. Many machine shops are either unaware
of this condition or not equipped to handle the job. They
may say a head is unrepairable, when in fact, we can save
it. Alternatively, if a machine shop is unaware of the condition
and simply resurfaces the block-sealing side without straightening
the camshaft side, the cam is in a bind and subject to breakage.
That is not a good situation for you or your customer.
No two machine shops do things the exact same way. Our unique
procedure for heat straightening cylinder heads never allows
for valve seat slippage. This insures that valve geometry
is exactly the way the factory set it up. The block-sealing
surface is another critical area for today's modern cylinder
heads. The advent of MLS gaskets requires that the sealing
surface must be close to a mirror-like finish. We have invested
copiously in ensuring that our equipment meets or beats these
surfacing requirements.
