Custom Rebuilt vs. Exchange Engine
| |
Why a Custom
Built Engine
Is Your Smart Choice |
 |
 |
Nobody welcomes the news that they need a new engine.
However, this page will help you make an informed choice
in selecting the right engine for your vehicle.
Rebuilding your engine is preferable to swapping it
for an "assembly line built" or so-called
"exchange" engine. A custom rebuilt engine
provides many advantages including the use of the engine
originally designed for your vehicle, the precision
skill of a local craftsman utilizing quality parts,
customizable to your special needs, and warranty protection
superior to the typical assembly line exchange engine.
The following charts identify some of the significant
differences between a custom rebuilt and an "exchange"
engine. They compare both the overall product quality
and warranty protection differences between the two
different types of engines.
Take a moment to examine the differences and you will
see why Scroggins Machine, Inc. recommends a custom
rebuilt engine. We can rebuild most engines in 2-4 days.

Common Problem with Exchange
Engines
A very common problem with exchange engines is the rebuilder
"crack repairs" blocks and heads. This procedure
is widely known to be substandard at best. Crack repairing
is not recommended on a quality rebuild. Salvaging cracked
engine and blocks saves the builder money, but as a result
you are stuck with a inferior engine. Scroggins Machine, Inc.
does not use crack repaired cores. Ask your rebuilder if they
use crack repaired blocks or heads. If they say yes, call
us.
Clearly the Best Choice
When you do your homework, you will see that a custom build
engine is clearly
your best choice. A quality product, rebuilt to exacting standards,
using your original engine. A product that is second
to none and one that ensures your complete satisfaction and
peace of mind.
Please consult Scroggins Machine, Inc. for more information
on the benefits of a custom built engine. They will be
happy to further explain the benefits of a custom built engine.
